Lifespan identical with Charles Sawyer (rugby)

[edit]

Is it the same guy or have the dates been mixed-up? Jura1 (talk) 07:38, 3 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

My gut feel is that these are the same person, as at the time a number of people would have played cricket in the summer and rugby in the winter. I'm not sure, but I doubt ESPN cross-reference their cricket and rugby databases, and hence the location of death differs; but the place of death of Southport (in the cricket reference), and Ormskirk (in the rugby reference), are only 8-miles apart. FreeBMD has his death registered in Ormskirk, so it may well be that he died in Southport, but the death was registered in Ormskirk. Best regards. Also the cricket Charles Sawyer played for Broughton Cricket Club, and the rugby Charles Sawyer played for Broughton Rangers… coincidence? Best regards. DynamoDegsy (talk) 12:24, 6 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
You convinced me. It showed up on d:Wikidata:Database reports/identical birth and death dates/1. Jura1 (talk) 07:39, 7 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
If there are no objections, I'll merge the Charles Sawyer (cricketer) article into the Charles Sawyer (rugby) article. Best regards. DynamoDegsy (talk) 08:02, 7 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
